Job Title: Assistant General Manager (AGM)
Location: Kimchee Restaurant
Reports to: General Manager
Job Purpose
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in the day-to-day management of the restaurant, ensuring consistent operational standards, excellent customer service, and smooth coordination between FOH and BOH teams. The AGM acts as second-in-command, taking the lead in the GM’s absence and helping drive operational efficiency, staff performance, and overall business targets.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
• Support the GM in managing daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth service.
• Oversee FOH operations and assist BOH coordination when required.
• Ensure all opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures are followed correctly.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, and maintaining operational equipment.
Staff Management & Leadership
• Supervise FOH team, ensuring high service standards and professional conduct.
• Support in creating staff rotas, monitoring attendance, and ensuring adequate staffing levels.
• Assist in training new employees and ongoing development of current staff.
• Lead daily briefings and motivate staff to achieve performance goals.
• Assist in handling staff concerns, minor conflicts, and performance discussions.
Customer Service & Experience
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by resolving issues quickly and professionally.
• Monitor service flow, table rotation, wait times, and overall guest experience.
• Handle VIP guests, large bookings, and special customer requests.
Compliance & Health & Safety
• Ensure all staff follow company policies, licensing laws, food hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
• Assist in completing required paperwork, checklists, and compliance audits.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety standards, and operational readiness across the restaurant.
Financial & Performance Support
• Assist the GM with monitoring daily/weekly sales performance.
• Support cost management—including labour control, wastage reductions, and operational efficiencies.
• Report operational issues that may impact sales or service performance.
Skills & Experience Required
• Previous experience as a Supervisor, Duty Manager, or Assistant Manager in hospitality.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and handle fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
• Good understanding of customer service, people management, and restaurant operations.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to take initiative.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
Role Expectations
• Work closely alongside the GM to support all operational and managerial duties.
• Act as the responsible manager when the GM is off-duty.
• Maintain a positive working culture and lead by example.
• Contribute ideas to improve service, sales, and staff performance.
• Be flexible with work hours to cover peak times as needed.
